On May 14, 2017, “The Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation” was officially opened in Beijing. 29 Heads of State and Government and over 1500 delegates attended the summit forum on the Belt and Road Initiative and engaged in full exchanges of views for a grand blueprint of mutual beneficial cooperation. Xi Jinping, the President of the People’s Republic of China, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.

This summit forum is the one with the highest level held since the Belt and Road Initiative was proposed 3 years ago and it is the highest profile diplomatic event initiated by China since the founding with the highest level and scale, having an epoch-making significance in promoting international and regional economic cooperation and trade. With the theme “strengthening international cooperation and co-building the ‘Belt and Road’ for win-win development”, the summit comprises three main events: an opening ceremony, a leaders’ round-table summit and a high-level conference. 

In recent years Bauing Group has made outstanding contributions to the building of “Belt and Road”, so it was invited as the representative of handful private enterprises to participate in this summit. During the conference, president Gu Shaobo reported the operating status of “Bauing International”, the subsidiary of Bauing Group in Hong Kong to Leung Chun-ying, the Chairman of the National Committee of CPPCC and the Chief Executive of Hong Kong, and highly praised the role of Hong Kong in connecting enterprises to help them “Going Out” under the Belt and Road framework. In addition, President Gu Shaobo made an in-depth communication with Yeung Kwok Keung, the founder and Chairman of Country Garden Group on relevant business contacts between two enterprises. Yeung Kwok Keung expressed his impression on the performance of Ninefold Construction under Bauing Group in the Forest City Project in Malaysia and expected wider and deeper cooperation between two sides to jointly develop a boarder market.

During the summit, President Gu Shaobo accepted interviews from a number of media including Guangdong TV, Shenzhen TV, Yicai Global, Securities Times, Shanghai Securities News, China Report, Shenzhen News and many other media.

“The Belt and Road Initiative can not only lead to a multi-win situation, but it also provides a significant way out for dominant industries in China. Under the Belt and Road Framework, resources and markets will be reintegrated to improve productivity and competiveness and achieve sustainable development. Enterprises should seize this opportunity to implement a harmonious complementarity with neighboring countries in resources, technologies, talents and management. Meanwhile, they should adhere to the combination of ‘Going Out’ and ‘Bringing In’.” Gu Shaobo said in an interview by Guangdong TV, “At present, we have extended our business to more than 20 countries and regions. Burma and Australia are the next two markets that Bauing Group will develop. In addition, we will continuously adjust our industrial structure, and give it a shot in intelligent installation, smart city, smart healthcare and other aspects and make a specific implementation plan.”

The Belt and Road Initiative is a Chinese proposal whose aim is to promote peaceful cooperation and common development around the world. Fruits of the Initiative will be shared globally. Cooperation among countries builds an intimate 

community with a shared destiny. Bauing Group was invited to participate in the international summit. On the one hand, our achievements made in “Going Out” projects won recognition from the Country; on the other hand, we attained enhanced confidence in future construction on the Belt and Road. In the future, Bauing Group will continue to extend its global layout and will also seize this great opportunity to further deepen the Belt and Road cooperation significance to seek more and higher level strategic cooperation!
