During the lecture, academician Wang Zhaokai led the audiences to review the progress of various disciplines in the process of social development through the precise definitions of mathematics, science, engineering and industry and the explanation of the relationship among various disciplines, and then pointed out the misunderstanding of some students in the process of seeking knowledge. Academician Wang Zhaokai believes that: Mathematics can be proved, and can be used in a variety of ways to verify; science is objective and does not require verification but has been improved, mathematics and science have been linked after the development of society to a certain stage; science turns to engineering after applied to the labor, and thus forms industry due to engineering convergence. He also took his own studying experience in his youth as an example to further demonstrate the application and development of various disciplines in modern China. He said earnestly that young students should have the courage and action to adapt to the needs of the development of the times, to realize perfect integration of science and manual work, and to strive to create the next generation of computer language for contributing their own strength to China’s future development of science and technology industry.
